Welcome to the Phoenician Ship
Expedition website. This Expedition aims to build a replica
Phoenician/Mediterranean vessel and attempt to recreate the first
circumnavigation of Africa, as accomplished by Phoenician mariners in 600BC.
"Phoenicia"
is in the water!
 On
17th July "Phoenicia" was launched into the harbour at Arwad. Local
people joined the Phoenicia Team and Syrian shipwrights to celebrate
this exciting event. There are now only 2 weeks until the launch of the

Phoenicia Expedition Artist Danielle
Eubank has hit the headlines in the USA with front page coverage in the LA
Daily News. Danielle has recently visited Arwad and has been
documenting the project through sketches and paintings.
